Aksu and Karavshin Gorge
The teeth of a shark – this is how peaks of the central part of the Turkestanski range look. The ice, winds and tremendous temperature changes has not destroyed them but just sharpened and polished them to make extremely challenging for climbers. These peaks attract mountain-climbers from many parts of the world. Peaks in this area range from the Asan peak (4,200m) to the Iskander peak (5,120m) with spectacular wall routes extending from 800 to 1,500 metres.
Specialists compare this area to Patagonia in South America, but point to a significant difference – the Kyrgyz peaks are located in the emerald green valleys.
